the silk roads were over land routes that people would use to barter with other countries. Traders would usually carry silk & other goods on caravan trails. The trail stretched from Central Asia to Mesopotamia. In total, that was 5,000 miles! It was called the trans-Eurasian because it connected 2 different continents. Silk roads was flourishing by 100B.C. Traders would make fortunes & used camels as transportation. The trip would usually take several years & there were pit- stops on the way for the traders to rest at. China sold silk, paper, jade, & pottery. In return they got sesame seeds, oild, metals, & precious stones.
