Reflection sheet
1. Justify how this project/lab/activity/meets the standard, using evidence from thew standard itself.
The standard for this assignment was 5E. It was to understand how to determine if an object is an acid or a base. In this lab assignment we were to use litmus paper to determine if a substance was a base or if it was acidic. We were also to guess at first before the testing part using the properties of an acid or a base. Therefore this is how it relates to the standard 5E.
2. Elaborate on at least one skill or strength you feel you gained from completing this project.
I feel like one skill that I gained form this project is the skill of engaging in an argument using evidence & interpreted data as well as analyzing it. For this assignment we worked in groups of four according to our seating pattern. In my group some of us disagreed on whether one was a basic solution or an acidic one.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is one area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects?
On this assignment I got a 6/10. I could have done more to receive something higher than a 60%. For a start I could have put in more effort into my writing portion of the lab. Because I didn't put enough effort, I worked on it very slow and eventually turned it in late. That took off 3 points. I had already started with a 70%. For my luck one point was taken off.
4. How will you presently apply the content & skills you learned from this assignment in the real world (outside of the classroom, or in other classes)? Make connections between the content & your life (what causes your weather, healing, measuring speed/velocity on a roller coaster, etc).
I will apply these skills I learned with my brother. My brother had a tendency that he likes tasting everything he sees and he's 8. He's old enough to understand that he cannot do that. I can use this in the real world to help my brother see that it isn't good. This will help me explain to him why. He says he understands but clearly he doesn't so I have chosen to use the PH scale to lend him a hand.
