Pottery Project
(Reflection Sheet)
1. How does this relate to the standard?
The standard 8-VA-CE-26 is to create both additive & subtractive sculptures. This assignment relates to the standard because I added coils on top of other coils in order to do this, (additive) & I took away all the excess clay to make coils.
2. What are the steps you took to complete & do well on this assignment?
I had to roll up the piece of clay into a ball that way I can use the pinch pot technique. I dug my thumb in the middle of the ball of clay then started to pull outwards. That came out bad. So I began all over again. But this time I just used coils. As I began to add coils on top of one another for my second try, I saw that it was getting a better shape for a soup pot.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I have the ability of creating a clay sculpture using different techniques.
4. I could have improved on this assignment by......
I could have used my time more efficiently because if I hadn't messed up the first time, I would have had more time on painting it completely. I could have also made sure everything was put together correctly because eventually when I went home my sculpture broke onto 2 pieces.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes when you are still a student?
I can apply them for when I wanna make sculptures of utensils used at home that everyone needs.
