Relfection Sheet
1. Justify how this project/activity/assignment meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself to demonstrate your mastery and/or understanding.
The standard for this assignment was 5.4.2 which was to identify the major individuals and groups responsible for the founding of the various colonies and the reasons for their founding. The colony I got was New Jersey and I worked with my partner/classmate Jasmin Ortega. We divided the work in half. I would do the brochure and she would do the research. This assignment relates to the standard because we had to look for how the colony was established, who established it, what year, why was it established, what was the purpose of that colony in its golden ages, & the different hardships the colonists went through.
2. Elaborate on at least 1 skill and/or strength you feel you gained from completing this project.
Engineering creativity was a skill I had great strength on. We had a lot of information gathered and such little space to put it all in. Including the images and the fun facts, it was more things and much more less space. To make it all fit in one paper, me and jasmine started to add pop ups in the corners of the brochure. It looked very created and once you opened it, there were questions you could flip up to see the answer and fun facts maybe our peers didn't know about. It took time and several drafts because we tried different ways to add pop ups with out getting them cramped up.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is ONE area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects?
To get a better score, Mr. Tran said that we needed more pictures so I believe that I could use that as a thing to improve on, balancing the information with the pictures. The pictures were unnumbered by the amount of information we had.
4. How will you presently apply the content and skills you learned from this assignment
in the real world (outside of the classroom, particularly in today’s society)? Make connections between the content and your life.
I will apply the content I learned in this assignment in other brochures I have to make for recommendations of places or if I get to work at a travel agency and I have to make brochures of the places people should visit using our travel agency.
