Reflection Sheet
1. Justify how this project/lab/activity meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself.
The standard was met in this cheerio and matter demonstration project because I showed that I knew how to distinguish solid, liquids, & gasses from each other. The standard for this project is, standard 3E which is that a students knows the difference between solids, liquids, & gasses. Solids are atoms tightly packed together in a locked position where they can only vibrate. Liquids are atoms & molecules that can move more freely. Gasses are atoms and molecules that can move completely freely and constantly bump into each other.
2. Elaborate on at least one skill and/or strength you feel you gained from completing this project.
Developing and using models is a skill I feel I gained strength on in this assignment. On the sheet Ms. Juarez gave us, We had to use cheerios as a model to show the different states of matter & how they look like. I believe this is a strength for me because on past projects where we have had to create models for something, I completely fail & end up very confused. But however, for this project I felt more confident then ever.
3 .Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is ONE area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects?
On this assignment I got a 3. I could have gotten a perfect score if I had added a few more things about the states and their characteristics. I didn't include everything of their characteristics. We had to include temperature, movement & appearance. I was missing the movement for all of them. Improving in this will help me out on other assignments because I now know that I have to check several times my work to see if something is missing.
4. How will you presently apply the content & skills you learned from this assignment in the real world (outside of the classroom, or in other classes)? Make connections between the content of your life (what causes our weather, healing, measuring speed/velocity on a roller coaster etc.)
I can use these skills that I have strengthen in this project in other classes for other classes. Doing a model can help us in many different classes. I can make a model for a project when we need to. For example, if for ELA we have to create a culminating project for a unit we learned, I can use a model and depict it off a certain part of a book or section or based on a theme. Just like how for this assignment we created a model for the different representations of matter.
