City Project/Transversal
1) Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standards for this assignment was that you had to know the effect of when a parallel line is cut by a transversal. This assignment was about constructing our own city placing different buildings in certain angles that were given to us.
2) What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
In this assignment I had to work together with my partner on fist setting down the different streets (lines) that we were going to make then to see where to intersect them with a different line to create certain angles. We were given a worksheet by Ms. Diaz saying where certain buildings had to be found at. Some were alternate exterior/interior angles, others were corresponding angles, vertical, consecutive interior, supplementary angles and so on.
3) This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I have the ability of identifying what angles are which angles. For example corresponding angles are in the same spot but in different lines. Alternate exterior are when they are outside of the parallel lines and on different side of the transversal.
4) I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I could have been more focused on my assignment staying very aware of the time. This assignment was made in 2 days while I was in my Math period. My work I had gotten done yet it could have been better if I were to be more creative. My town was very empty in buildings and it wasn't that visual appealing. I could have also read the instructions over and over to make sure I was not leaving anything out of the project.
5) How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I will apply the skills I learned in the future because in my spare time, I like drawing cities up on my walls then spray painting them or coloring them with markers. In the future I want to keep this so I can make money off something I like. But If i want to get more complex and make things from a birds eye view, angles are going to become my best friend. When I take a picture of the scenery I want to do I have to angle my camera at the right position. So it won't just be a plain photograph. Yet once I am doing the work up on the wall, I have to determine at what angles are the buildings in the small photograph then keep the same angle but change the size of the building's position with the other buildings around it.
