Reflection Sheet
1. Rewrite the standard in your own words. How does this assignment relate to the standard?
The standard is 8.EE.4 which is to work with operations with numbers in scientific notation. Also to work with problems that include both decimal and scientific notation. The students should also use and demonstrate knowing how to use the appropriate units of measure.
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
Our project was to compare the population of the U.S to another country. Ms. Diaz had provided us with a worksheet & gave us the option to choose our country. I chose Japan as my country to research one. The worksheet had pretty much all the things we needed to include in our poster. We needed the population of our country & the population of our country's capital. Also the population of the United States. I googled all those things and I wrote them down. Later I had to convert the population of the United States to scientific notation as well as Japan's capital and entire country's population. That concluded the first part of the project. The second part was to find the difference in both populations and also the sum and convert those into scientific notation.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I have the skills of using mathematics & computational thinking. I used this skill through out the project when converting the populations into scientific notation. Also when I was completing part two of the project.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
The project was extremely dull. My lack of art made it took really wordy and boring which is something one should always try to avoid. Creativity is a skill I could have improved of. I could of added pictures of Japan and their capital and likewise with the U.S. But in order to improve on my creativity skill I first have to manage how to be neater with my writing and calculate the size of the words to have space.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or .in other classes while you are still a student?
I will apply these skills that I learned in other classes that go hand in hand with math. I plan to use these skills to increase the capability of doing things. As a student, there really isn't a way to avoid how to get better at the skills you are not good at because either you want to or not, another class is going to ask you for those skills. Might as well use them as a way to challenge yourself.
