Reflection sheet
1. Justify how this project/activity/assignment meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself to demonstrate your mastery and/or understanding.
The standard 8.9.1 is about how the abolitionists and the leaders of the movements were. Those are such as Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, Dred Scott, etc,. In this Diary of The Civil war, I mentioned how many slaves were taken to the North in the underground railroad. I put myself in the shoes of a slave & describe how they felt, what they thought, the things their eyes would see accompanied with their believes.
2.Elaborate on at least 1 skill and/or strength you feel you gained from completing this project.
One skill I gained was having the sensibility of taking an event in life that happened many years ago and take my brain time traveling into that time period. I used a lot of my brain doing that. The levels of imagination I used to feel what the slaves could possibly feel back then, all the treatment, the pain, the thought they could have been thinking of; all of that tired me out once in a while. I had to be thinking outside of the box 24/7 while doing this project. I used my notes to help me out to visualize the events that were happening back then & I got to say I am actually proud that I have developed the skill of thinking outside the box.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is one area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects.
I got a 45 points out of 50. I missed 5 points because I turned it in incomplete then asked for it back to finish it. The first time I turned it in I had a 26 out 50. I was missing 2 sections and the drawings on all the pages. Improving on getting my things done in time can be a skill that I can improve on because time is everything. If I don't turn something on time I can get something bad out of it. In this case it was loosing 5 points that I could have easily gotten. I could also improve my skill of completion. I have to manage myself efficiently so I can get my things done completely even if it could have a few extra details as long as it has all it needs. It could help me out because when something is well done, you show who you are in a way. For example if you never turn anything complete and it is always late, then what people see you as is a lazy person who can't manage time.
4. How will you presently apply the content and skills you learned from this assignment in the real world (outside of the classroom, particularly in today's society)? Make connections between the content and your life.
The Civil War is a serious topic that many of us hear as a child. The greatness of Abraham Lincoln freeing the slaves. I have a little brother who like learning off of me more than his teachers. He is 5 years younger than me. He thinks The Civil War was all just slave issues. I can now explain to him like a picture book that it wasn't just that. That there is more to it. That is how I plan to use this assignment and what I learned from it. I can also use it when I grow up for an interest I have. I like writing and if I go after writing for my free time, I can use my knowledge from the Civil War times to go and do a story based off in those times. I put myself in other people's shoes & I get to have the privilege to help other people see the dark truth behind the Civil War. Maybe far beyond from what they might not know and transport them back to that era. Maybe I find myself lost back in the days as well.
